I’m done. Actually I finished this morning with a huge ride of .95 miles. However, and I think all can agree, unless you get home it’s not really a done deal so I’m counting the miles I rode to get home as part of training. In truth I’ve counted everything since I started, not just recreational rides. So…
I planned on riding 1550 miles between April 10, 2011 and July 23, 2011. Each week was broken down into weekly goals:

I’d have thought Saturday would have been my big day of the week, but as it turned out I preferred riding a lot on Sunday and have the rest of the week to make up any extra miles. Since I’m always busy on Wednesdays and Thursdays this turned out well for me. This way I got to rest on Saturday (for the most part) and tackle Sunday fresh. Monday is a bit of a surprise as well, but now I think it’s because of the holidays. I’d have to look at my actual calendar but I do know that on the weekend of July 4th I did a long Sunday and Monday which goes a long way to explaining Monday. But hey, after a Monday at work who wouldn’t want to work it out with a few miles on the road?
Ultimately it’s not a huge number of miles, not even close. By the time I got to the final weeks which were well over 100 I found myself setting out to do 40 miles and doing 60. Basically riding a lot got pretty easy. The biggest drawback was simply that it took up more and more time. However time spent on a bike is always a good thing so I enjoyed 95% of it. The other 5% was mostly spent getting started on a ride.
Aloha!
